Who We Are
Makin’ Smiles Coffee is a family-run specialty coffee roastery based at 2153 Dogwood Dr., Palmyra, VA 22963. You can reach us at [email protected] or 530-227-0864 (call or text).
Information We Collect
When You Place an Order
Your name, billing and shipping address, email, phone number, and payment details. Payment is processed by Stripe — we don’t see or store your full card number ourselves. If you tell us how you heard about us, we keep that with your order too.
When You Create an Account
We store your name, address, email, and phone number so future checkouts are faster. You can view, update, or delete this information from your account at any time.
When You Subscribe to a Coffee
For recurring orders, we keep the same order information above on file so each shipment can go out on schedule, and Stripe securely processes each renewal payment. You can pause, change, or cancel a subscription any time from your account — no call or email required.
When You Contact Us
Through our Contact page or the wholesale inquiry form, we collect whatever you share with us — typically your name, email, and the details of your message — so we can respond.
When You Sign Up for Our Email List
Just your email address, used to send the coffee news and blog updates you signed up for. No spam, and you can unsubscribe any time.
When You Leave a Product Review
Anyone can leave a review, and each one waits for our approval before it appears. Your name, email, and review text are stored. Your name and review text are shown publicly on the product page, but your email never is.
Automatically, as You Browse
Like most websites, we automatically collect your IP address, browser type, and the pages you visit. We use cookies to keep your cart contents intact as you browse and to help estimate shipping and tax before you check out.
Why We Use It

- Process payment and prevent fraud
- Calculate accurate shipping costs and tax
- Respond to questions, wholesale inquiries, and order issues
- Send you order updates, and if you’ve ordered from us or signed up, an occasional email from us. You can unsubscribe anytime

Cookies
We use cookies to keep your shopping cart working as you move between pages, and a couple of standard login cookies if you have an account. A few more come from the services that help run the store:
- Site statistics from Jetpack and WooCommerce (both made by Automattic), which count visits and show us which pages and products people look at.
- Order attribution, built into WooCommerce, which notes how you found us (a search, a link, or an ad) so we can see what’s working.
- Google, which tells us when a visit from one of our Google ads ends in an order (see Purchase tracking below).
- Stripe, which uses a cookie to help spot fraudulent payments.
- Our emails, which note when you open one or click a link in it. If you click through to our site, a cookie lets us see whether that email led to an order.
We don’t use retargeting ads that follow you around the web, and we don’t sell anything these cookies collect. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but the cart and checkout need them to work.
Who We Share Information With
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing. We do share what’s needed to run the store with:
Stripe, to process payments — see Stripe’s privacy policy.
Google, in two separate ways:
- Product listings: our product catalog — names, images, prices, and availability — through Google Merchant Center, to run our Google Shopping listings. This doesn’t include any of your personal information.
- Purchase tracking: when you complete an order, we let Google know a purchase happened and its value, so we can measure how well our Google ads are working. “Enhanced Conversions” — a feature that would additionally send Google a scrambled (hashed) version of your email or phone number — is turned off (we’ve confirmed this in our Google for WooCommerce settings), so no customer contact information is included.

Cloudflare, which sits in front of our site to keep it fast and secure. Every visit passes through it, and it counts visits without setting any cookies. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
How Long We Keep It
We keep order and tax records for up to 10 years.
Reviews and comments are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them.
Your Choices
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails any time, using the link in the email or by contacting us directly.
- Ask what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — email [email protected] or use our Contact page. We’ll honor this except where we’re required to keep something for tax, accounting, or legal reasons.
Children’s Privacy
Our site isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
Security
Our site uses HTTPS encryption. Payment information is handled directly by Stripe on their PCI-compliant systems — we never store your full card number on our own servers. Access to customer information is limited to our own team members who need it to fulfill orders and help you.
Changes to This Policy
If anything about how we collect or use your information changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date above.
