At Makin’ Smiles Coffee, we believe good coffee can also do some good. Here’s a look at how we try to give back — in coffee, and in the community.
What Is the Emerging Stars Blend?
The Emerging Stars Blend is a custom coffee Makin’ Smiles Coffee created to support Emerging STARS, a nonprofit organization empowering adults with developmental disabilities through teaching, fun, socializing, job skills, and community involvement. A portion of every bag sold goes directly to support their mission. Learn more about Emerging STARS at emstars.org.
What Other Organizations Does Makin’ Smiles Coffee Support?
Beyond the Emerging Stars Blend, Makin’ Smiles Coffee regularly supports organizations making a difference close to home, including LifeSpring Pregnancy Centers in Charlottesville and First Baptist Church on Park Street in Charlottesville.
How Can My Group Run a Fundraiser With Makin’ Smiles Coffee?
Makin’ Smiles Coffee can set up a custom coupon code for a school, team, club, church, or other organization that’s raising money. Every order placed with that code helps the cause. There’s no upfront cost, no minimum order, and no nonprofit or charity status needed to run a fundraiser.
Here’s how it works: Makin’ Smiles Coffee creates a unique code for the group and donates 10% of total sales made with that code straight back to the group’s cause. The group decides how long to run it — a weekend push, a month-long campaign, whatever fits the event or goal.
The biggest factor in how much a fundraiser raises is how often people hear about it. Sharing the code more than once — posting it, mentioning it at meetings or events, sending a reminder partway through, and giving one more push as it wraps up — consistently outraises a single announcement.
Makin’ Smiles Coffee is currently running a fundraiser for White Shrine of Jerusalem – Dogwood Shrine No. 3. Use code WSJ3 at checkout to support them with your next order.
