Description

A good first dark roast if you're coming from a grocery-store dark and want the body without the burnt edge.

Roasted in small batches · Shipped the next business day

Our Brazil Cerrado Dark Roast comes from the Cerrado region of Minas Gerais, Brazil, roasted right in the middle of the dark roast range: smooth and bold, with chocolate and nut undertones and a satisfyingly heavy body. It’s dark without the bitter punch in the face you get from most — rich and smooth instead of harsh.

Like every coffee we sell, this one is roasted in small batches and shipped the next business day, so what you’re brewing is fresh, not something that’s been sitting in a warehouse for months. Choose whole bean if you grind at home, or let us grind it for cold brew, French press, a coffee pot, pour-over, AeroPress, or espresso, all at no extra charge.

It makes a classic strong morning cup, it’s a good base for cold brew where its low acidity and chocolatey depth come through, and it’s become a favorite with customers who want a big, generous crema. If you’re a dark roast person, you’re going to love this one. Ready to try it? Pick your size and grind above and we’ll get it roasting.

Questions about this coffee

How dark is it?

It's the darkest coffee we roast, but it stops short of a French or Italian roast on purpose. It's smooth and bold, with a heavy body and hints of dark chocolate, walnut, and a little smoke, without the burnt edge.

Is it good for espresso?

It's become a favorite with customers who want a big, generous crema, and it's one of the five coffees in our Espresso Sampler.

Is it good for cold brew?

It's a popular one for cold brew, because its low acidity and chocolatey depth come through well cold. We can grind it for cold brew, a notch coarser than French press.

Can I get it ground?

Yes. It comes whole bean or ground for cold brew, French press, a coffee pot, pour-over, AeroPress, or espresso, at no extra charge. You pick the grind on this page.

When is it roasted?

We roast in small batches every few days and ship the next day, so it's fresh when it reaches you. The roast date is on every bag.

Find it locally: Brazil - Cerrado is usually on the shelf at our farm stand in Palmyra and at Crossing Brook Farm.

Live nearby? Choose Local pickup at checkout and grab your coffee from our farm stand in Palmyra, any day of the week. We’ll email you when it’s ready.

Please note: since every bag is roasted fresh, we can’t take returns on coffee. If something’s not right, reach out and we’ll make it right — see our Shipping & Returns page for details.

  1. Cathy Logan –

I absolutely love the Brazil! ! It’s my favorite. I love a rich, dark roast and this is it! We have a lot of guests and they all enjoy this as well. In fact they usually pick some up at the farmers market to take home with them.
